We would like to thank all those who helped, sponsored, or participated in the

Twelfth Annual Gathering of the People Powwow on September 21, 22, and 23, 2007.

On September 21, we held the fourth Powwow Education Day field trip for nearly 500 third grade students from Vigo, Parke, and Vermillion counties.  This was a wonderful cultural learning event, the children really enjoyed the hands on experiences and learning about the dances and lifestyles of Native Americans, specifically the Woodland Indians from this area We would like to thank all those who helped make this a day to remember for these children.  (We are currently taking reservations for third grade classes for the 2008 Education Day on September 26, please call 812-877-4251 for requests)

Thanks to the Minority Health Coalition and ISU nursing students who provided free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings on Saturday, September 22. We would also like to thank James Alexander Thom and his wife Dark Rain for having a book signing during the powwow.  They are very famous authors and have written many historical Native American novels and it was an honor having them at the powwow.   We would like to thank the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau for their support and assistance. We would also like to thank our program sponsors, printed by Woodburn Graphics.

These sponsors included Crowder Trucking and RDR Brokerage of Rockville; Bob Bowen Ford, Blue Moon Gifts, Jack’s Fine Foods, Indiana Army National Guard, Riddell National Bank, the City of Brazil,  Yesterday’s Treasurers and Giftables, Goodwill Industries, Circle B Trailer Sales, and Clover Signs,  all of Brazil;  Recognition Plus, Woodburn Graphics,  the Vigo County Conservation Club,  Moose Lodge of Terre Haute, Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau, M.J.
